Greenwall design and maintenance services

What is it?
Green walls or “living walls” are an exciting development in the horticultural world. Vertical gardens have come to prominence in recent years through the incredible works of Patrick Blanc the French botanist. His designs have sparked a rush of interest in this area throughout Europe. However it has been in Canada where vast commercial and scientific developments have been made.
A green wall can be developed in many guises: either as climbing plants, growing in the ground or in containers and simply trained up the exterior façade, or as a living cladding, where the plants thrive and develop in a growing medium attached to the building’s vertical surface, receiving nutrients and water through an integrated irrigation system.
A tremendous visual impact can be achieved which can transform a dull urban development into an impressive architectural statement with the added advantage of being environmentally beneficial too.
What are the benefits?
In addition to creating a stunning visual impact green walls also have unique environmental benefits such as:
- Helping to reduce the urban heat island effect
- Reducing wind tunnel effects
- Habitat restoration for wild life, providing food, water, cover/protection and places to bear and raise offspring
- Reducing the effects of rain water run-off
- Helping to regulate a buildings temperature
- Promoting Health and wellbeing
- Purifying the air creating cleaner air
- Sound insulation
- Adding a marketable green building feature.
- Educational benefits. Perfect tools to teach future generations about environmental issues
